Agree on the help

Before beginning, ask: “Would you like me to show you, talk you through it, or watch while you try?” People can want different kinds of help, even when they are learning the same task.

Keep the important detail visible

Demonstrate beside the learner where possible. Slow down at the part that is easy to miss. Explain which piece you are moving and where it goes. Then give the learner space to try.

Leave room for another go

If something is unclear, pause. Ask which part they want to see again. Follow the lesson’s safety guidance: a capable adult should handle tasks that need supervision. Trying independently and asking for help can both be part of learning.
